Preparing for Your Eversense® 365 CGM Sensor Placement
Please review this information before your appointment. These instructions will help you know what to bring, how to prepare, and what to expect during your scheduled sensor placement visit at Whitehouse Family Medical.
Eversense 365 Placement Day: To Do List
Please DO:
Bring your photo ID and insurance card.
Bring your Eversense supplies if they were shipped directly to you.
Download the Eversense app before your appointment and make sure you can log in.
Charge your phone before you arrive.
Wear a short-sleeve or loose-fitting shirt so we can easily access the upper arm.
Eat and drink normally unless your provider gave you different instructions.
Take your usual medications unless your provider told you otherwise.
Tell our office before the procedure if you:
- Are allergic to lidocaine, numbing medicine, adhesives, skin prep, iodine, or chlorhexidine
- Take blood thinners
- Have a skin infection, rash, open wound, tattoo, or irritation near the upper arm placement area
- Have had a recent fever or illness
- Have questions about the procedure or aftercare
Plan for a simple in-office placement procedure. The sensor is placed under the skin by a trained healthcare provider. Eversense describes the placement as a simple procedure, and no sutures are typically required.
Eversense 365 Placement Day: To-Don’t List
Please DO NOT:
Do not apply lotion, oil, perfume, tanning products, or heavy deodorant near the upper arms on the day of your appointment.
Do not place any creams, ointments, or numbing products on the arm unless our office specifically instructed you to.
Do not wear tight sleeves that may rub the placement area after the procedure.
Do not schedule heavy lifting, intense exercise, swimming, or sauna use immediately after placement.
Do not plan to soak in a bathtub, hot tub, or pool after your procedure. Eversense aftercare instructions say not to swim or soak in a tub for 5 days after placement.
Do not remove the Steri-Strips. Let them fall off on their own. If the edges curl, you may trim the edges, but do not pull them off.
Do not ignore redness, swelling, warmth, drainage, bleeding that does not stop, fever, or increasing pain. Contact our office if you notice any of these symptoms after placement.
Do not rely only on the CGM if your symptoms do not match your reading. Eversense notes that fingerstick blood glucose checks may still be needed when symptoms do not match CGM information or when taking medications in the tetracycline class.
